A significant milestone was reached yesterday (30-6-2026) at our Pre-University College with the official inauguration of the Ursuline Franciscans Youth (UFY) unit. The event marks a fresh chapter for youth-led spiritual and social leadership within our institution.
The formal ceremony took place in the presence of our esteemed Principal, Sister Anita E Dias, and Vice Principal, Sister Iren Savitha Martise. Accompanying them were our dedicated lecturers, Sir Arona Sohel and Sir Anthony Arulappa, who gathered to support this student milestone.
The inaugural cohort began with eight pioneering students officially stepping up as foundational members of the UFY unit. Highlighting the immediate positive reception of the cell, four junior students openly expressed their deep desire to join the UFY rank as active members moving forward.
Delivering the main address, Principal Sister Anita E Dias spoke extensively on the profound importance of being a UFY member. To inspire the young crowd, she shared the powerful life example of St. Carlo Acutis (often referenced locally as St. Carlo Octive), the first millennial saint. She challenged the youth to follow his footprints by utilizing their unique, contemporary talents to serve society rather than falling into modern, hollow trends. The event concluded with an optimistic note, laying down a strong spiritual foundation for our students’ upcoming social initiatives.
